Convert the dates on your official documents
Birth certificates, licences and family registers are often dated in a calendar other than the Gregorian one. Choose the calendar, enter the date as written on your document, and get the Gregorian date (AD), or the other way round.
Calendars covered

For Nepali dates there is also a dedicated page: Nepali date converter (BS to AD).
How the conversion works
- Nepali (BS): a day-by-day table of the length of every month, because BS months change length every year.
- Persian, Ethiopian and Hijri: the calendar data built into your browser (the same data used by operating systems).
- Japanese, Thai and Taiwanese: only the year is counted differently; months and days are Gregorian.
Nothing you type is sent anywhere: the conversion runs in your browser.
Need the document translated?
A NAATI-certified translator translates your document into English, gives every date in the Gregorian calendar and certifies the translation. See driver licence and birth certificatetranslation, the Nepali and Chinese document pages, orupload your document.
FAQ
Which calendars can I convert?
Nepali Bikram Sambat, Persian Solar Hijri (Iran and Afghanistan), Japanese eras (Reiwa, Heisei, Showa), Thai Buddhist Era, Taiwanese Minguo years, the Ethiopian calendar and the lunar Hijri calendar (Umm al-Qura).
How do I convert a Thai or Taiwanese year?
Months and days are the same as in the Gregorian calendar. For a Thai Buddhist Era year, subtract 543 (2569 BE is 2026). For a Taiwanese Minguo year, add 1911 (year 115 is 2026).
Why can a Hijri date be one day different on my document?
The lunar Hijri calendar can follow the sighting of the moon, which differs between countries. This converter uses the Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia. A date on a document from another country can be one day apart.
Is the converted date official?
It is a check. On a certified translation, the translator gives the converted date and takes responsibility for it.
