The Department of Home Affairs asks for documents not in English to be translated into English. If you apply from Australia, the translation must show the translator's NAATI practitioner number, as ours do. Note: the free government translation service does not cover documents for visa or citizenship applications.

Tips for a fast turnaround
- Upload every page and the back if anything is written on it.
- Make sure names and dates are readable. If a stamp is unreadable, the translator will mark it as "[illegible]".
- Tell us the spelling of names as in your passport, so the translation matches.
