What our translator checks
- Names in the spelling of your passport: the same Arabic name can be written Mohammed, Muhammad or Mohamed. We follow your passport so every document matches.
- Hijri and Gregorian dates: some documents give both. We give the Gregorian date and check it against the Hijri date.
- Right-to-left layout, stamps and seals: every stamp, seal and handwritten note is translated where legible.
Licence and visa rules in short
- Licence transfer: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan are not on the Austroads list of recognised jurisdictions: you can still transfer your licence, but your state may ask you to pass tests. See which licences convert without a test.
- NSW: for a NSW licence transfer, only the Free Translating Service and Multicultural NSW are accepted, not private translations such as ours. See what NSW accepts.
- Visas: if you apply from Australia, Home Affairs asks for the translator's NAATI practitioner number on each translation, which ours show.
Refugee and humanitarian entrants
Many Iraqi and Syrian families arrive on refugee or humanitarian visas (subclasses 200 to 204). If yours was granted less than 2 years ago and you are in Australia, the government's Free Translating Service can translate up to 10 personal documents for free, in up to 30 days: use it first if you can wait. See who is eligible.
Price and turnaround
- Standard: $69 per page, PDF within 24 hours.
- Express: $139 per page, PDF within 1 hour for orders paid 8am–8pm, Monday to Saturday (Sydney time) with a clear and complete photo or scan. If we miss the 1-hour delivery time, the express surcharge ($70 per page) is refunded automatically.
FAQ
Do you translate all Arabic dialects and countries? Yes. Official documents are written in Modern Standard Arabic, whatever the country, and we translate them into English.
My document has a Hijri date. Which date appears on the translation? The Gregorian date, checked against the Hijri date written on the document. You can also check a Hijri date with our date converter.
Is my Lebanese ikhraj qaid accepted as a birth certificate? Many applicants use the civil registry extract (ikhraj qaid) as evidence of birth and family details. Check which document the authority asks for.
